There’s no denying that the last two years have been a challenging time for Victorians and for Victorian community sports. Now that sporting clubs have resumed normal activity, the Victorian Government has introduced the 2022 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSIF), backed by up to $30 million from the recent state budget.

The LSIF will financially support the upgrade of sporting infrastructure, which includes the Community sports lighting funding stream. This aims to encourage more Victorians to participate in sporting activities and boost local economies. The various physical, mental and social benefits of being physically active and participating in local sports have been well-documented within individuals. Additionally, sporting facilities that are high-quality, accessible, well-designed and sustainable supports the development of healthy, active and connected communities.
